Dam Repairs Continue
Moose Jaw Alberta - Repairs to the base of the CPR dam were to occur later in autumn, when the water in Plaxton's Lake and Moose Jaw
River began freezing.
But with water levels in Wakamow Valley so severely depleted, City of Moose Jaw director of engineering services Mokles Rahman told the Times-Herald the city
is taking advantage of the current circumstances to tackle the damaged dam earlier.
Therefore, with the aid of a contractor, the city built a temporary gravel dike just west of the CPR dam.
On Monday, Rahman said, crews began pumping out the water between the dike and the dam, thus allowing for assessment of the damaged dam base, and repair.
According to Rahman, the target date for repairs of the dam is two weeks.
