VIA Rail Passengers Stuck on Train for
24 Hours as Storm Creates Chaos Across Prairies

Tako Saskatchewan - Bad weather and freight train problems have resulted in 154 VIA Rail passengers being stranded aboard their own train in Saskatchewan for the past 24 hours.
 
VIA Rail says its Number Two train from Vancouver to Toronto was halted early Thursday near the tiny community of Tako, about 190 kilometres west of Saskatoon.
 
The company says the holdup is the result of problems with one or possibly more Canadian National Railway trains down the line.
 
It also says the passengers have been getting food and supplies, and that they were not expected to be stranded for much longer.
 
Details were not immediately available on the situation with the CN rolling stock, but one media report indicated blowing snow was hampering repair crews.
