Why Not Change the Name
Orangeville Ontario - We wonder how many local residents, let alone tourists, have ever heard of the Orangeville-Brampton
Railway.
The shortline between Orangeville and Streetsville is owned by the Town of Orangeville and operated efficiently by Cando Contracting Ltd., having been acquired
from CP Rail in 2000 after the national railway won the right to abandon its once-prosperous Toronto-Owen Sound service.
The shortline's major accomplishment has been the introduction of the Credit Valley Explorer, the tour train that operates between Orangeville and Snelgrove at
the north end of Brampton.
Most of the trackage is on the former Credit Valley Railway, which reached Orangeville in December, 1879, and was later acquired by the CPR.
Assuming the historic name is available, why not use it?
