No Leak After Train Derailment in Estevan
Estevan Saskatchewan - A train derailment in Estevan Thursday morning left four cars off the track, according to Canadian Pacific
Rail.
The cars derailed around 11 a.m. at the south end of CP's yard in the city.
The Estevan police chief described the cars, which were carrying oil, as laying on their side.
"The fact that the cars are still in our yard area, we have a lot of resources at our disposal, and we can take the neccessary time that's required (to
clean it up)," said Ed Greenberg with CP.
Both Police and CP Rail confirm there was no leak as a result of the cars leaving the track.
There were also no injuries.
"There were no injuries, no environmental impacts identified, and no public safety issues," Greenberg said.
CP Rail crews were on site early in the afternoon to begin the process of removing the cars.
An investigation by the rail company has already been launched to determine what caused the derailment.
