Milton's Main Street Underpass Partially Open to Motorists
Milton Ontario - A portion of the Main Street underpass has officially opened to motorists as construction continues on the project
that is hoped will improve traffic flow in the downtown area.
Two lanes on the southbound portion of the underpass opened on Monday, allowing traffic to flow in both directions.
The Town said there is still approximately one year of work to be done before the underpass is officially completed.
Once finished, the grade separation will eliminate the need for Canadian Pacific Railway's street-level crossing at Main Street East, near Ontario
Street.
The four-year $49-million project is partly funded through the federal government's gas tax fund.
