Vancouver British Columbia - CP's clearing of the Arbutus Corridor will not be stopped by a court order.
 
The City of Vancouver has failed in its attempt to get the courts to block CP's clearing of the corridor, but the mayor is promising to respond.
 
Gregor Robertson is disappointed with this decision from BC Supreme Court, but vows to explore all options to ensure trains don't end up going down the corridor once again.
 
"We want to make sure the Canadian Transportation Agency, the minister of transportation, understand our opposition to reactivation of the Arbutus Corridor, that we do have safety concerns," says Robertson.
 
"We want to keep pressing our case with the CTA in particular."
 
In today's ruling, a judge stated the gardeners, pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers who have been using the corridor have no right to be using it this way.
 
"There is a real question this line has in fact been abandoned, so there are big questions that remain and we'll, as a city, continue to use the tools we have to pursue this," says Robertson.
 
The court also stated the company "will suffer irreparable harm" if it can't even prep the tracks for a possible resumption of train use.
