CP Paying $60,000 to Rebuild Champ des Possibles
Montreal Quebec - Canadian Pacific Railway has agreed to pay the city of Montreal $60,121 to rebuild a popular Mile End green space
known as the Champ des Possibles it accidentally razed last fall.
After talks with the Plateau Mont-Royal borough, CP has come to an agreement in principle to cover the costs of the damages inflicted, city officials said
Tuesday.
The agreement will have to be ratified by the city's executive committee in the coming weeks.
In October, workers with CP cleared the green space to make a temporary train lot, thinking it was CP land.
It was in fact city-owned land that local volunteers had fought since 2008 to preserve as a wild green space, housing numerous species of plants, birds, and
insects.
CP immediately admitted its mistake and apologized.
