Minister Leitch Appoints Arbitrator for Bargaining Dispute Between CP and TCRC
Ottawa Ontario - On 20 Apr 2015, the Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, appointed the
Honourable George W. Adams as the mediator/arbitrator between the Canadian Pacific Railway Company (CP) and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference
(TCRC).
A work stoppage occurred on 15 Feb 2015 as a result of a collective bargaining dispute between CP and the TCRC.
Four collective agreements covering approximately 3,800 running trades employees at CP expired on 31 Dec 2014.
Minister Leitch worked with the parties, encouraging them to reach a negotiated agreement.
On 16 Feb 2015, the parties agreed voluntarily to send their outstanding issues to a mediation/arbitration process.

- The Honourable George W. Adams holds a B.A. from McMaster University, an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School, and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School.
