Calgary Alberta - Canadian Pacific Railway has puts its landmark downtown Calgary Pavilion property on the block.
 
The 39,000-square-foot 9th Avenue S.W. building, connected to the Fairmont Palliser Hotel, is listed for $11 million.
 
"We can confirm that CP's Calgary Pavilion is currently listed for sale, but have no further comment beyond that," a company spokesperson said in an e-mailed response to the Herald.
 
Susan Thompson, research manager for Calgary Economic Development, said the property, already set up as an event centre, could become a hotel site, conference facility, or restaurant.
 
"That's a high prestige corner. I think if you ask anyone, they know this facility," Thompson said of the property, known for its 12-metre-high glass rotunda.
 
The Pavilion, opened in February 2000, was built at a cost of $6 million.
 
The site, which houses several vintage CPR cars, served as a dining and reception venue and was the launch site for the Royal Canadian Pacific luxury rail service.
 
The Pavilion would be CP's last real estate holding downtown, said Thompson.
 
The railway moved its main office from Gulf Canada Square to Ogden and earlier this year announced Calgary-based Aspen Properties had bought the office tower formerly known as Encana Place, across from the Pavilion, from a numbered company representing it and Encana.
 
"This is entirely an event facility," said Thompson of the Pavilion.
