New Grain Export Terminal Setting Up Shop at Manitoba Inland Port

Winnipeg Manitoba - An anchor tenant setting up shop at CentrePort will spur a rail park development, according to the Selinger government.

BroadGrain Commodities is moving into Manitoba's inland port.

The province says this paves the way for a new rail park.

The train hub will be built on 700 acres of land west of CentrePort Way and south of the Canadian Pacific rail line.

BroadGrain is spending $25 million on their operation that includes a bulk grain export and bean processing facility.

The operation will also involve loading 150 car unit trains with Manitoba commodities, including wheat, canola, soybeans, corn, and specialty crops.

CentrePort will spend $2.4 million on switches and tracks to link the operation to the Canadian Pacific Railway mainline.

The Manitoba government is providing tax increment financing revenue from its Community Revitalization Fund to assist with the rail link, and is also realigning Provincial Road 221 to aid development of the park.

The facility will also act as the western Canadian flagship terminal for BroadGrain, which has offices in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
