Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia - The West Coast Railway Association heritage locomotive and cars were in Nanaimo Friday for two
short trips, at 14:00 and 16:00 from the historic Nanaimo train station to Wellington of approximately an hour return each.
Named the "Island Explorer" the consist was comprised of Ex-Canadian Pacific Railway FP9A 4069, ex-CN baggage car (contains a generator)
"McDonald Creek", ex-CP coach "Paul D. Roy", hayrack "Henry Pickering", ex-CP superintendent's car "Alberta", and SRY
GP9 number 110.
All tickets sold out very quickly.
On Saturday, 9 Apr 2016, the Island Corridor Foundation (ICF) hosted a family-friendly event at the Nanaimo station from 10:00 to 15:00 that included tours
of the train, music, and fun for train enthusiasts of all ages.
