Coaldale Manitoba - A woman suffered possible back and head injuries when a train and a car collided in Coaldale Thursday afternoon.
The CP train hit the Jetta on the passenger side, pushing it down the tracks for a short distance.
It happened just before 15:00 at Highway 3 and 11 street inside the town.
The 56-year-old driver of the car was trapped inside and had to be extricated by firefighters.
Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Witnesses said the warning lights were flashing and the train had sounded its horn.
There are no crossing arms at that location.
Police said a utilities crew from Fortis had to be called in to deactivate a live power line to make the scene safe for first responders.
The rail crossing itself was also damaged and a temporary rail crossing system will be put in place by CP until permanent repairs are made.
Coaldale RCMP and CP are investigating.
