Edmonton Alberta - If there's one thing south Edmonton residents can rally around, it's that we all hate the 50th Street train,
fact.
Not a day goes by without someone taking to social media to complain about getting stuck at that darn intersection.
That was earlier Tuesday morning, mere hours before Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced $39.8 million to build a railway underpass and to add lanes to 50
Street, addressing one of the city's biggest traffic headaches.
The project includes widening 50 Street to six lanes between 76 and 90 Avenue and building the underpass at the Canadian Pacific Railway crossing north of
Sherwood Park Freeway.
Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson posted a video on Twitter from Singapore shortly after the project's announcement.
