Calgary Alberta - Three Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) workers have been killed in a massive derailment on the Laggan Subdivision at the
Kicking Horse River near the British Columbia and Alberta border.
According to CP, the westbound freight train left the tracks about 01:00, 4 Feb 2019, with three crew members on board suffering fatal injuries.
Various news sources have incorrectly reported the lead locomotive fell 60 metres off the Kicking Horse bridge.
The upper Kicking Horse bridge is closer to 6 metres above the river rather than 60 metres.
Railway employees based out of Calgary have started a GoFundMe page where they
are accepting donations with the proceeds going to the families of the deceased railroaders.
Distribution of the donations will be overseen by the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) of the Teamsters Union to ensure the funds are distributed
fairly.
