Guelph Ontario - The Guelph Historic Railway Society is sprucing up their caboose to get it ready for Railway Safety Week.
Volunteers began painting on 22 Aug 2019 but the caboose has been a restoration project for over 25 years.
When it's not on display, it lives over on Elmira Road.
In a 2017 article, organizers said they hope to one day pair the caboose with Guelph Civic Museum's 6167 steam locomotive, to create a rolling
museum.
Guelph will be holding a Rail Safety Day on Saturday, 28 Sep 2019, in John Galt Park.
Guelphites can drop by any time between 09:00 and 15:00 to learn more about being safe around railways.
You can check out the caboose then, meet a railway safety officer, and play games.
There will also be a video demonstration using virtual reality goggles.
However, a release from the city warns that this activity should be for older youth and adults, as some may find the videos disturbing.
Rail Safety Week is held in Canada from 23 to 29 Sep 2019.
Its main initiative is to prevent tragedies on train tracks.
