Canada - Railroad asset management technology development company TekTracking LLC has installed its first Gate Light Monitor (GLM)
system at a Canadian Pacific Railway highway grade crossing.
TekTracking describes the GLM as "a patent-pending sensor platform used to measure and verify the operation of gate arm lights used in grade
crossings.
The GLM, easily mounted to the crossing mast for direct view of the gate arm lights, addresses critical field-testing requirements for railroad grade crossings
by enabling continuous monitoring of gate arm position and gate lights, specifically, gate light functionality, and crossing gate integrity."
Data, in the form of images and streaming video, captured by each GLM are communicated over a private communications network to TekTracking's associated Edge
Image Processor (EIP).
The EIP is the master network controller for up to 64 nodes and performs image and video analysis to determine device health, and generates alarms based on
anomalies, or equipment malfunction.
The GLM is the newest field-installed component of TekTracking's Connected Crossing technology, which incorporates several specialized sensors and processors
interconnected to fully monitor all aspects of grade crossing performance in accordance with FRA 236 Part D Maintenance, Inspection, and Testing
requirements.
