Calgary Alberta - Canadian Pacific (CP) is donating $1 million to four North American charities working on the front lines to help people
impacted by COVID-19.
In Canada, CP will donate $350,000 to The Frontline Fund and $250,000 to Food Banks Canada.
In the U.S., CP will donate US$250,000 to Feeding America and up to US$150,000 in matching funds to the American Red Cross.
"Our CP family is honored to help front line workers and volunteers as they courageously work day and night to keep up with unprecedented need. By
providing food to North Americans who are in need, and critical supplies and support to front line service providers, these charities are making a difference.
We hope our donations will assist these organizations in reaching those who are most vulnerable and keeping more people safe. Our thoughts, prayers, and
sincere gratitude are with each and every person who is out there working in the service of others," said Keith Creel, CP President and Chief Executive
Officer.
CP has been inspired by support shown to its own front line workers as they continue to perform critical work across North America throughout the
crisis.
The company is committed to doing its part to help people struggling with the economic impacts of COVID-19 in the more than 1,100 communities it serves and
beyond.
"The way communities in North America and around the world have come together is remarkable. Through our community investment program CP Has Heart, we
remain committed to giving back to communities across our network and are incredibly proud to be supporting the extraordinary response to COVID-19," Creel
said.
This announcement comes the day before Giving Tuesday's special Giving Tuesday Now, a global day of giving and unity on 5 May 2020 in support of the many
charities participating in the emergency response across North America and around the world.
