Montreal Quebec - Dozens of people in Notre-Dame-de-Grace were forced from their homes for several hours Sunday afternoon after a
suspicious package was found on the Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) near de Maisonneuve Boulevard.
A Montreal police spokesperson said its bomb squad, with the help of a robot, inspected the package and found no dangerous substances.
He could not say what was in the package.
The evacuation was for homes between Belgrave Avenue and Melrose Avenue north of the tracks as well as some streets south.
The 90 residents affected, many of whom spent the evening in nearby parks, were allowed to return to their homes around 20:00.
CP's police force requested the intervention of Montreal police at 15:10 Montreal firefighters were also at the scene.
