Tottenham Ontario - It has been a while since residents in Totteham and Beeton have heard the familiar toot of the South Simcoe Railway's steam engine whistle.
 
Although the steam engine itself won't be running, the Railway will resume excursions this fall using its Diesel Locomotive number 703.
 
Beginning Sunday, 5 Sep 2021, the Railway will be operating along its line that runs between Tottenham and Beeton.
 
You can ride on one of the restored vintage 1920's coaches over the century-old branchline that once connected Hamilton with Barrie and Collingwood.
 
The whole trip takes just under an hour and takes passengers through the Beeton Creek Valley.
 
The trip is highlighted by the conductor's friendly and informative commentary.
 
To follow public health protocols, all trips will have to be reserved in advance, and no walk-in tickets will be sold at the station.
 
In order to keep in line with physical distancing, there will be limited seating and passengers must remain in their assigned seats.
 
Advance tickets will go on sale on 23 Aug 2021, and are available on the Railway's website.
 
Fares for the scenic excursions are $15.00 for an adult, $12.00 for seniors, and $9.00 for child up to 15-years-old.
 
The Railway is also planning for some fall colour excursions in October, as well as special Halloween and Christmas themed events.
