North America - Canadian Pacific Railway has cancelled its annual Holiday Train for the second consecutive
year.
Usually, the tour made stops along communities in Canada and the U.S.A, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they will be hosting the tour in virtual
form.
Spokesperson Salem Woodrow elaborates.
"Canadian Pacific will donate to food banks and communities along its network and host a virtual concert instead of its regular holiday train program for
the second consecutive year, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We are very eager to bring the holiday train back to our communities in Canada and the
United States to spread holiday cheer in 2022 and for the many years to come."
The 2019 Edition of the Holiday Train made a stop in Portage la Prairie and featured Santa Claus and performances from Scott Helman and Madeline
Merlo.
Woodrow gives more information about the virtual event.
"The Holiday Train program will carry on through our virtual concert. We're very proud to say that since the program started in 1999, we've raised more
than $19.4 million and collected 4.9 million pounds of food for food banks to communities across CP's network, which reaches more than 1,100
communities."
CP will be producing a virtual benefit concert, and details should be announced in the weeks ahead.
This also marks the 23rd edition of the Holiday Train.
