Field British Columbia - Residents of Field are on back-up power following a train derailment west
of the small community on Friday night (29 Apr 2022).
According to BC Hydro, repairs to the main power supply is expected to be completed Tuesday (3 May 2022).
"We were advised this morning (1 May 2022) that we will not be able to access the site until track repairs are
completed. We now expect to be given track time and complete repairs on Tuesday," said Mary Anne Coules, BC
Hydro's community relations manager, in an email to Field residents.
There are 174 BC Hydro customers in Field who lost regular power Friday following a train jumping tracks and taking out
a feed to the community approximately 10 kilometres west.
"Our customers there are now on back-up power, so there is no outage right now, and they will remain on back-up
power until we're able to fix our infrastructure in that area," said Coules on Saturday
(30 Apr 2022).
No injuries and no spills were reported by CP after a freight train derailed four cars Friday night approximately 10
kilometres west of Field in Yoho National Park.
The cause is under investigation.
The rail line has since been reopened.
"CP reopened the rail line this morning after all repairs and safety inspections were completed," wrote CP
spokesperson, Salem Woodrow, in an email.
