CP Train Collides With Boulder Near Sparwood

Sparwood British Columbia - A CP train was involved in a collision with debris on the tracks near
Sparwood earlier this year.
According to a daily notification report from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, CP reported on 12 Jul 2022
that on 31 Mar 2022 a west-bound train near Sparwood struck a boulder that had fallen onto the tracks.
The collision, which took place at mile 12 of the Cranbrook subdivision resulted in damage to the front of the lead
unit (CP 8885), but no derailment, leaks, or injuries.
There was no detail, or delays, or track closure, as a result of the incident, and CP declined to
elaborate.
