Didsbury Alberta - Mountain View County Council in central Alberta has approved the allocation of
$225,929 to help support a rail crossing repair project in collaboration with Canadian Pacific Railway.
The crossing is located on Range Road 15 south of Didsbury, at Mile 42.42 south of Township Road 310.
Crossing arms and lights are advised because of the angled alignment, according to officials in a briefing memo to
council.
"This improvement is proposed as being funding 50/50 by Mountain View County and CP, with opportunity for partial
funding from the Ministry of Transportation through the rail safety improvement program," the briefing
said.
If grant funding becomes available, the county's contribution to the project could be reduced to 25 percent or
$112,964.
The Canadian Pacific Railway plans to finish the crossing upgrades in 2023, according to a statement at a 22 Feb 2023
council meeting, according to a local news report.
