London Ontario - A 19-year-old London man is facing charges of attempted murder and assaulting a
police officer after a driver was stabbed multiple times in what police are calling a random act of
violence.
The victim, who remains in hospital with critical injuries, was stopped Tuesday at the Richmond and Piccadilly streets
rail crossing, waiting for a train to pass.
Police say the accused, Jose Nathan Lopes Cajina, opened the door and stabbed the male victim multiple times before
running away.
"There is no indication that the victim and suspect were known to each other," police reiterated in a
statement released Thursday.
Police spent one day looking for Cajina, releasing his photo to the public, and found him on a city bus after receiving
a tip.
He was taken to police headquarters where he allegedly assaulted a police cadet who sustained minor
injuries.
Cajina appeared in court Thursday and was charged with attempting to commit murder and assaulting a peace
officer.
