TOP - Tunnel No. 5 along the V&T was where the track entered Virginia City. The tunnel was cut through a hard rock ridge here. Later the roof of the tunnel was removed and now highway 341 bridge crosses above the tracks here. This view looks south towards Gold Hill. The track to the right is the main line from Virginia City. The track to the left is a spur line that went to the Combination Shaft - Date? Photographer?
MIDDLE - The shaft house of the Chollar, Norcross, and Savage mines was known as the Combination Shaft. The V&T tracks servicing the mine are in the foreground - Date? Photographer?
BOTTOM - Sometime after Tunnel 5 was daylighted Highway 341 overpass was constructed over the track. This is not the same switch as in the photo above. This switch's left branch leads to the current V&T Virginia City shops while the right branch leads to the depot on F Street.
