The three foot narrow gauge Florence & Cripple Creek Railroad (F&CC) connected Florence, Colorado, through Phantom Canyon, climbing 5,000 feet in 40 miles to reach Cripple Creek. It was named "The Gold Belt Line" due to the amount of gold ore shipped from the areas around Cripple Creek. F&CC boxcar 588 was built by American Car & Foundry in 1898. It was purchased by the Montana Southern Railroad in 1918 following the F&CC collapse in 1915. It moved to the Colorado Railroad Museum in 1961.
