On Saturday, 21 Jun 2014, he visited the Alpine Garden on the Schynige Platte. The reason for the Schynige Platte visit by Naruhito, Crown Prince of Japan, is the partner relationship between the Schynige Platte Alpine Garden and the Rokko Alpine Garden in Japan. The ceremonial twinning ceremony took place on 28 Jun 2008. The Crown Prince also mentioned his fondness for the mountains and Alpine flora. Japanese and Swiss media accompanied the Crown Prince of Japan with his diplomatic delegation on his trip to the Schynige Platte. After the journey on the historical cogwheel railway, he visited the Alpine Garden. The CEO of the Jungfrau Railways, Urs Kessler, presented him with a cowbell, which had been cast with the name of His Majesty. The cowbell is the centrepiece of the new glockenspiel in the nature cinema on the Schynige Platte, and it was created in honour of the Crown Prince of Japan. The visit of the Crown Prince in the Jungfrau Region is an additional significant activity for the Jungfrau Railways as a part of the 150-year jubilee of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Japan. Together with Interlaken Tourism, they were the main tourism partner at the opening ceremony of the "Swiss Days" in Tokyo, held in February 2014 to celebrate the jubilee. Anonymous Author |
