Panorama Train number 145 is just about to depart Wengen station. The Lauterbrunnen valley lies to the left while the village of Wengen is out of camera view to the right. Wengen lies at an elevation of 1,274 metres (4,180 feet) so is still within the forest zone. Wengen has approximately 1,300 year-round residents, which swells to 5,000 during summer, and to 10,000 in the winter.
