Blaenau Ffestiniog Wales - The Ffestiniog Railway Society exists to support the oldest independent railway in the world (being founded by an Act of Parliament in 1832), now a historic and world-class tourist attraction.
With over 5,000 members, many of them active volunteers, the Society was established as the Festiniog Railway Society Limited in 1954 by preservation pioneers who wanted to play a role in the rebirth of the Ffestiniog Railway (FR).
The Society quickly found the role of providing volunteers and finance to early rebuilding efforts, a role which is still crucial today.
The Society became a registered charity in 1997, now allowing the benefit of claiming Gift Aid on donations and subscriptions.
