Same location as previous photo but the train is now closer. Notice the metal rod above the boiler. It's connected to the whistle. While the engine is pushing on the rack a whistle cord is attached that runs over the coach roofs to the leading coach platform so the brakeman can actuate the whistle at grade crossings. Also, the photo clearly shows the mechanical lubricator above the left hand cylinder with its copper lines distributing oil to various components.
