Jenbach - The Achenseebahn has been operating for 125 years.
A story with many ups and downs, as the current executive committee Georg Fuchshuber knows.
"This jubilee is reason enough for us to look into the past and to celebrate the Achenseebahn," says Fuchshuber.
"In the course of this year's anniversary, however, one would also like to look into the future. We are thinking about modernizing the Achenseebahn, but we want to create an everyday railroad for the population, who will be able to travel the route in just eight minutes, and on the other hand we would like to introduce a bus service again."
Four days of the Pentecost weekend was also celebrated during the Jubilee.
Various national music chapels, a baptism, book presentations, and journeys from Jenbach to Achensee Seespitz are a part of the festival program.
"Every day is dedicated to a different church," says Christian Kittl, CEO of the Achenseebahn Supervisory Board.
Achensee cruise ships were also integrated into the festival.
A delegation from the Appenzellerbahnen in Switzerland brought one of their electric railcars to the festivities as a demonstration project.
When asked whether these joyous events were overshadowed by the recent headlines surrounding former executive committee member, Bernhard Marchi, Kittl could only shake his head.
"At the moment we want to celebrate the 125 years and not talk about Marchi. It was a necessary step for me to set up the company as it should be," explained Kittl.
