A major grant has been approved by the Power to Change Trust to help fund the restoration of a locomotive on the South Tynedale Railway.
The money will also be used to create a new micro enterprise delivering railway experiences on the line for the first time.
Ex-PKP 0-6-0 steam locomotive "Naklo" is to be overhauled and rebuilt in-house at Alston, safeguarding existing jobs and will create new opportunities in the engineering department.

A grant in excess of £200,000 has been awarded to the South Tynedale Railway Preservation Society.
