Denver & Rio Grande Western 2-8-0 Consolidation Class C-16 number 268 was built in 1882 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The engine worked the Gunnison area for 73 years (1882-1955) until her fire was snuffed out for the last time on 1 Jul 1955. The orange and black paint scheme was created for the 1949 Chicago Railroad Fair. D&RGW 268 appeared in several motion pictures including the "Denver & Rio Grande" (of course... Paramount 1952) in this "Bumble Bee" colour scheme.
