Model Railway Exhibition at Crich Tramway Village This Weekend
15 August 2022

A model tram, trolley bus, and railway exhibition will return to a Derbyshire tourist attraction this weekend.

Crich Tramway Village, a tram museum, located not far from Belper, will be hosting the event on Saturday, 20 Aug 2022, and Sunday, 21 Aug 2022.

A total of 10 layouts will be on show for transport enthusiasts and families to enjoy.

They include Whiteleaf Tramway, which is a demonstration of Belgium's very extensive tramway system of this type.

It has been described as the largest assembly of Belgium G scale Vicinal rolling stock to be seen in the UK.

The layout portrays an electric tramway that runs through the streets and then sets off through the countryside to serve surrounding villages.

As not all sections of a tramway would be equipped with overhead wire, steam and diesel traction come in from outlying areas.

This type of operation handles both passenger and goods traffic, which was very common on tramways across Europe.

The layout is built to what is known as G Scale.

The track gauge is 45mm and represents the metre gauge tracks of Europe.

Also on show will be Camwell's View.

The layout shows a section of street track somewhere on Bristol Road, Birmingham, in 1952 with various types of corporation trams operating along the route.

John Huddlestone, exhibition organiser, said, "We are delighted to present this Model Tram, Trolley bus, and Railway exhibition again, which is popular with both exhibitors and visitors."

Amanda Blair, marketing manager, added, "The Model Exhibition is a fantastic addition to our life size trams, which will also be running. There is no additional cost for the exhibition, which will be included in normal entry prices. You can find prices and opening dates on our website."

Normal museum entry charges apply and opening times are 10:00 to 17:30 (last admissions 16:00) on both days.
