Japan - Have you ever wondered about some of the most remote train stations in the world?
Well, this incredible Japanese station is tucked away in a mountain country and sits on a cliff in the middle of a lake.
Okuoikojo station is an unstaffed station that has become a loved sightseeing spot and is very popular among tourists who stop off at the station to take pictures of the amazing landscapes and ring its happy bell.
The station found in Shizuko is served by the Ikawa Line and is located 13.9 kilometres from the official starting point of the line.
It also overlooks the wide Oi River which flows from the Akaishi Mountains also referred to as the Southern Alps.
The remote location of the station makes it an ideal place to take in views of the area's beautiful landscapes at one of Japan's most treasured railways.
Okuoikojo station first opened on 20 Oct 1990 when part of the Ikawa Line was re-routed to avoid the rising waters of the lake that was created by the Nagashima Dam.
It was initially constructed to transport materials for the building process of the dam, but then because of its remarkable location it was decided that the station should be added to the line.
The station has one side platforms that serve a single track and the platform partially extends into an amazing bridge that spans the reservoir.
