The 1886 E&N station constructed in Nanaimo appears similar to the Duncan station.
A larger more elaborate second Nanaimo station built by the Canadian Pacific Railway company for the E&N replaced the original station about 1926. It was designated a Canadian Heritage Railway Stations in 1991.

At a cost of $2.4 million the station was renovated and turned into a public house.
