The Columbia Street grade crossing utilized these vintage roll up/down gates at the foot of Columbia and Alexander Streets in Vancouver. These gates controlled vehicle traffic crossing the CP waterfront tracks from the city to the harbour docks. Until 1958, this was the crossing access to the wharf and ferry to Lonsdale Avenue across Burrard Inlet in North Vancouver. Note the pre-911 fire alarm pull-box mounted on the telephone pole to the right - 8 Apr 1978 R. Battocchio.
